Sterling silver naturally changes over time. Gentle, regular care helps preserve its finish, details and patina.

everyday care

• Store each piece separately in a dry place.
• Avoid perfume, cosmetics and household chemicals.
• Remove jewellery before swimming, showering, exercising or cleaning.
• Do not soak jewellery with natural stones.

bright silver

For bright, unoxidised silver, use a silver-cleaning dip such as Hagerty Silver Clean. Follow the packaging instructions, rinse thoroughly and dry completely.

Do not use cleaning dips on oxidised or patinated silver, or on jewellery containing pearls, opals, turquoise, coral, amber, malachite, lapis lazuli, or rough and porous minerals.

patinated silver

Use a jewellery polishing cloth, gently polishing only the raised, naturally bright areas. Avoid rubbing the darkened details.

A green polishing cloth is usually included with Vita Kurasheva jewellery and can also be purchased from most jewellery shops. It is suitable for silver and solid gold. Use it very gently on gold-plated details, as polishing may wear down the plating. The cloth will darken with use; do not wash it.

jewellery with natural stones

Do not soak rough, porous or delicate stones, or clean them with chemicals, steam or ultrasonic cleaners.

Wipe the piece gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it immediately. If unsure how to clean a particular stone, contact me before using any product.

scratches, repairs & resizing

A polishing cloth removes tarnish and very light marks, but not deep scratches.

For polishing, repairs or resizing, contact a local jeweller or send the piece to my Oslo workshop. Please contact me before sending it so I can confirm whether the requested work is possible.

ring size

measuring your finger in a jewellery shop

It is often easiest to check your ring size at a regular jewellery shop, whichever is most convenient for you. You do not need to ask for a professional measurement or use specialised metal ring sizers.

Simply try on ordinary rings from the shop’s assortment until you find a size that fits comfortably. If possible, choose a ring with a width and shape similar to the one you intend to purchase, as wide rings usually feel tighter and may require a larger size.

I do not recommend measuring at home with paper, string or printed sizing strips, as these methods are prone to error.

measuring an existing ring

If you have a well-fitting ring, measure its inside diameter:

• Measure across the centre of the opening.
• Measure from one inner edge to the opposite edge.
• Record the measurement in millimetres.
• Do not include the metal thickness.
• Use a precise calliper or ruler.

Also compare the band width and thickness, as they affect how the ring feels.

can my ring be resized?

Not every ring can be resized. Rings with stones, especially rough, untreated or naturally formed minerals, may not withstand heating, stretching or reduction. Complex sculptural designs may also have limited resizing options.
